Why did d-day start?

The D-Day invasion commenced to enter into Germany. The reason Normandy was targeted is because the Nazi group was not correct of the invasion plans. They situated most of their forces at another location.Normandy was also a better location due to the Atlantic Wall. The German Atlantic Wall forts were still being constructed and did not surround Normandy.
